Mövenpick brings hotel-branded residences to Quezon City

Ever wonder what it would be like living in a hotel? Hotel-branded residences can provide you this experience and one such property is coming to Manila. Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts announced it will open Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Quezon City in 2021.

In addition to the 250 residences, the property will feature 350 rooms and suites. The hotel will have a swimming pool and fitness center along with several restaurants. The residences will likely have similar facilities that are separate from the hotel-side of the property.

This will be the Swiss-hotel brand’s third property in the Philippines, but it is the first to feature residences. Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Quezon City is the company’s second residential development in Southeast Asia following the launch of the Mövenpick Residences Ekkamai Bangkok in 2017.

Southeast Asia welcomes hotel-branded residences…

Hotel-branded residences in Southeast Asia have been popular for a few years now. Bangkok is home to the Ritz-Carlton Residences and Four Seasons Private Residences, two luxury condominium projects that have been in demand from the city’s high-society crowd.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Dorsett Residences Bukit Bintang is one of several hotel-branded properties being built. Meanwhile in Vietnam’s resort areas, the number of branded developments is growing significantly. X2 Hoi An leverages regional hospitality firm X2 while Best Western Premier Sonasea Phu Quoc is another branded-residence making waves in the country.

…but the Philippines yet to jump on the bandwagon

Filipino developers haven’t been as quick to welcome hotel-branded residences, instead preferring to market projects under their own flag. Many homebuilders promoting resort-style living, but aren’t ready to put a hotel’s brand on their residential developments.

One developer bucking the trend is Dot Property Philippines Awards 2017 winner Robinsons Land Corporation. The firm’s upscale arm, Robinsons Luxuria, launched The Residences at The Westin Manila Sonata Place. It is the first Westin-branded residences in Southeast Asia. Investors and end-users have flocked to the project that will be equipped with all of The Westin’s signature amenities.

“Our commitment to serve and offer the best quality residential developments to match the discerning taste of our clients remains strong,” Frederick Go, president and COO of Robinson Land Corporation explained. “We are pleased to partner with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, working with their numerous consultants and experts in various fields to achieve the important standards of the Westin brand.”
