New infrastructures in the Philippines that we can’t wait to see

One of the biggest problems facing the country is its transportation system. Fortunately, the government has many plans in the coming years to help improve the daily commute of the Filipino people. The Duterte administration is planning a three-year rolling infrastructure program (aptly called TRIP) from 2018 to 2020 that will cost up to PHP 3.6 trillion. The budget will cover infrastructure projects for transportation, water resources, flood management, energy and information.

Excited for what the next few years will bring us? Below are some of the major infrastructure projects to look forward to.

Mega Manila Subway

The Mega Manila subway is a 25-kilometer project that aims to connect the major business districts in the country. The project will begin in 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2024. When completed, travel from Quezon City to Taguig will only take 30 minutes. It is expected that the Mega Manila Subway will welcome more than 370,000 passengers per day.

NLEX-SLEX Connector Road

Ever wish that you could effortlessly travel from Baguio to the gorgeous beaches in the South. This will be possible with the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road. The PHP 23.3 billion projectwill run from the C3 road in Caloocan crossing Espana towards Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa then connecting to Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3.

Bonifacio Global City to Ortigas Road Link

You will soon have the ability to easily travel between these two business districts. The project involves building a four-lane bridge across the Pasig River and four-lane viaduct structure at Lawton Avenue. The project will cost up to PHP 4.01 billion.

Mindanao Railway

Metro Manila is not the only place that will enjoy infrastructure improvements in the future. There’s also a project in Mindanao that aims to connect the major cities, seaportsand economic zones in this region. It’s expected that the project will have 100,000 passengers per day.

Unified Common Station

One of the most exciting projects in the pipeline is the United Common Station which aims to connect all three major railway stations for an ease of transfer for all passengers. The project will cost up to PHP 2.8 billion to build and is expected to serve more than 400, 000 people per day.
