Feel Safe at Home with these Security Systems

In the Philippines, one of the primary concern for every home owner is the safety and security of the occupants and the material possession they own inside the house. There will always be a time when you’d feel that someone is constantly watching your home, waiting for the right time to strike. For peace of mind, investing in home safety is an issue that should be of the utmost concern.

For those who recently purchased an apartment or condo or for a newly-wed couple who moved in in their dream house right after the wedding, it’s always important to consider the type of home security system that you’d want to invest. There are a lot of home security systems available in the market today; while some are traditional and cost-effective, newer types of home security systems are considered better but are a bit pricey.

Below are some of the most basic home safety and security systems that are very common in the Philippines:

1. Security personnel: This includes private bodyguards, security guards in subdivisions, and guard dogs. For those who live in high-end subdivisions, security guards are always provided by the subdivision itself and should be very efficient in checking the different individuals who go in and out of the subdivision. For those who don’t live in exclusive subdivisions, you can still avail the services of human security personnel for a monthly fee. The downside to this is that most of these security companies that provide security personnel are expensive to maintain.

Guard dogs are always the number one choice for most home owners in the Philippines. They are inexpensive, loyal, and make great house guards and pets at the same time. However, not all dogs make great guard dogs and they are also easy to poison, should a thief feed the poor animal with poison-laced bait or food. Some dogs also no longer bark or raise an alarm whenever they’re used to seeing the same person over and over again inside the premises.

Private bodyguards are usually employed by VIP’s and affluent individuals. They’re on a different level compared to the security guards that one sees guarding banks and shopping malls. Some of them come heavily armed and are trained to protect your house in case of emergencies.

2. Home Alarm Systems: Home alarm systems are considered the future of home security. There are two types of home alarm systems; there’s the wired telco home alarm and there’s the wireless home alarm system.

  • The telco home alarm system is installed and set to call the police from your landline any time there is an emergency.
  • The wireless home alarm system is the newer security system and is designed to immediately contact either you, the police, or the fire department any time there is an emergency.

In the Philippines, these types of home security systems are prevalent to those who can afford it. Simply put, it’s too pricey, but the security level is worth what you’re paying for.

3. CCTV’s: Perhaps the most common home security system are CCTV’s. Also called security cameras, they are usually placed in important areas inside a building. Inside a house, CCTV’s should be placed on the front gate or the front door, the back door, and the bedroom. These cameras are useful in checking out people who are right outside your home or, in the event of a disaster or crime, check the footage to identify the culprit. There are many security companies today that offer CCTV’s as part of their package. And as always, the downside to this would be the expenses incurred in having these cameras installed.
